The Beginning: Whiskey Pig 2015
Bourbon Bonanza began as a humble gathering with a big heart. The inaugural event, Whiskey Pig, took place on September 17, 2015, with no one realizing it would ignite a charitable movement within the bourbon community.
That night, Chefs Newman Miller and Sean Brock treated guests to an incredible spread of Southern fare, while Bill Thomas and his team from Jack Rose Dining Saloon poured rare and vintage whiskeys. Drew Kulsveen of Willett Distillery selected an 11-year bourbon for the occasion—Barrel #1379, simply named Whiskey Pig 2015. At 127.2 proof, with a yield of just 67 bottles, this bourbon would go on to be recognized as one of the most iconic bottles of the last 20 years.
The event was an overwhelming success, raising $16,000 for Feeding America and laying the foundation for what is now the Bourbon Bonanza Benefit. Today, Bourbon Bonanza continues this legacy, bringing together whiskey lovers, industry legends, and world-class chefs to support important causes while celebrating the finest spirits.
